Club ties are marked by a solid or striped background with emblems woven on top. (Think crests, shields, flags, cricket bats, that kind of thing.) They used to signal membership in, you guessed it, a club or community. Nowadays, club ties are mostly symbolic — and given laurel's millennia-long reputation as a symbol of triumph and achievement, this one is especially well-suited for occasions like ceremonies and graduations.
