Matka cloth is a super-special fabric woven from broken silkworm cocoons. When the silkworms emerge, they leave behind nubby, slubby silk fibers, which are then spun into a coarse yarn with a slight luster and the most amazing texture. This particular matka comes from Italy and combines silk, linen, and cotton — an all-star trio of natural fibers — for a cloth that is lightweight, durable, breathable, and incredibly beautiful. It makes a great warm-weather jacket. It makes for a very textured riff on the simplest tailored piece we got. It’s totally unconstructed and stripped down — like a more dressed-up Butcher, if you're keeping score at home — with no lining, no darts, pickstitched spalla camicia shirtsleeve construction, and these crazy, almost Surrealist-feeling buttons made of unlacquered brass. And per Sid, you can dress the Ghost as far up or down as you want: “The most elegant man in the world could wear it and a guy in a t-shirt could wear it.”

Hopsack
We organize our tailored clothing into different levels of makes, similar to the way some German automakers have different series of cars.
Our sportiest, most casual make — unconstructed, with no canvas at all. The knockaround.
Our “easy” make, refined yet relaxed, with a lightweight, single-layer canvas. The basic.
Our “house” make and the one that started it all, with a structured, 3-layer canvas. The workhorse.
Our sarto make, with more handwork and a more natural, lightweight-yet-dense 2-layer canvas. The upgrade.
True sarto, with the same canvas as the No. 4, but completely handmade. The top of the line.
Deep Dive
“The Ghost Blazer is hands-down the simplest tailored piece we’ve ever made… Slip it on (or take it off and hold it up to the light) and you’ll see why we call it the Ghost. It’s so lightweight that it feels like wearing nothing at all.”
