We were super excited to get our hands on some true-blue Indian cotton madras... handwoven with just the right amount of slub and irregularity to it. The color combo on this one is special, too — we like when a madras shirt is moody enough to wear in cold weather. This one's got a soft, nonfused button-down collar with just the right amount of “bloom” and an extra button at the back of the collar, which is an old-school detail originally designed to keep your tie in place... but we just like the way it looks. The cut is slim but never skinny, with a high armhole for mobility and a shirttail long enough to stay tucked in. (Sid likes it this way, but it's easy to shorten if you prefer.) It's made with single-needle stitching, 22 stitches/inch, flat-felled seams, and thick, 3.5mm Trocas shell buttons.
