It's hard to come up with something more classic than an OCBD. Ours is made of beefy, American-style oxford cloth — from Portugal; go figure — and has a soft, nonfused button-down collar with just the right amount of “bloom.” As always, the cut is slim but never skinny, with a high armhole for mobility and a long-enough-to-stay-tucked-in shirttail. It's made with single-needle stitching, 22 stitches/inch, flat-felled seams, and thick, 3.5mm Trocas shell buttons. And once it gets too worn out, retire it to sport-shirt status, because the more you wash and wear and knock around in this fabric, the better (read: softer) it gets.
“It’s hard to come up with something more classic than a blue oxford. Sometimes we make 'em in a spread collar, sometimes in a button-down. But this one sits beautifully in the mix and can be used in about any instance. Suit, shorts, anything in between.”
