Chore jackets originated in 19th-century France as garments to wear while knocking out day-to-day work (hence the name). We haven’t strayed too far from the original — simple shape, clean patch pockets at the front, an easy fit through the body — but we've taken it up a notch with horn buttons and elevated fabric. This one in particular is made up in a rugged, quintessentially fall-feeling 8-wale cotton corduroy. Once known as “poor man's velvet“ due to its popularity during the Industrial Revolution, corduroy is one of our very favorite fabrics for this time of year. The wider, chunkier wale gives a softer hand and a touch more luster to the surface, so it'll transition perfectly into cooler months.
