We spent years sourcing the right mill to recreate the fabric formerly known as leno weave, a special cotton/wool hopsack with a gutsy texture and a serious fanbase. (And while we were at it, we gave it a brand-new name: Monk's Cloth.) It’s woven just for us in Portugal and it makes for a real 7-days-a-week kind of jacket. Especially in navy. The No. 2 make is fully canvassed, with a lightweight, single-layer canvas that'll mold and meld to your body, but in a sportier, easier way than our more structured Nos. 3, 4, or 5. And our Virgil model has a natural shoulder and a shorter body with no front darts at all. This particular one has a 2-button front vs. the usual 3-roll-2, but the vibe is still old-school ‘sack jacket.' It's got a slightly more American feel than the Kincaid or the Landry, but just like all of our tailored clothing, it's designed to take you from Mississippi to Manhattan to Milan without looking or feeling out of place.

We organize our tailored clothing into different levels of makes, similar to the way some German automakers have different series of cars.
Our sportiest, most casual make — unconstructed, with no canvas at all. The knockaround.
Our “easy” make, refined yet relaxed, with a lightweight, single-layer canvas. The basic.
Our “house” make and the one that started it all, with a structured, 3-layer canvas. The workhorse.
Our sarto make, with more handwork and a more natural, lightweight-yet-dense 2-layer canvas. The upgrade.
True sarto, with the same canvas as the No. 4, but completely handmade. The top of the line.
