Monk-strap shoes were one of the first things we made back in 2007. But the style originally dates back to the Middle Ages, when European monks needed something more covered than sandals and more durable than lace-ups for their gardening and fieldwork. These are made in the Marche region of Italy with a Goodyear welt and a particularly elegant silhouette through the toe.
