Trudon is the world's oldest candlemaker still in business. From the champagne-bucket-inspired glass housing to the gilded plaque on the front, and even the deo regique laborant motto ("[the bees] work for God and the King"), everything about the brand is luxurious. Solis Rex is inspired by the wooden floors of Versailles, with bright eucalyptus and citrus notes up front, a heart of woodsy fir bark, and cedar and incense in the base. A really special gift.

PRO TIPS FOR BURNING CANDLES
The first time you light a candle, let it burn for 2-3 hours, or until the whole surface is liquid. Wax has muscle memory, and this trains it to burn evenly and last as long as possible. You'll also want to get in the habit of trimming the wick to 1/4" before lighting to prevent tunneling and excessive smoking.
