The black-tie and shawl-collared version of our classic Virgil jacket, in an ivory barathea from England that gives a… very James Bond feel. The No. 3 jacket make has full canvas construction — the sine qua non of tailoring — with a special, structured 3-layer canvas that'll mold and meld to your body over time. While this version lacks the 3-roll-2 front and notched lapels of our other Virgil jackets, it has the same classically American-by-way-of-Italy spirit with a natural shoulder, a shorter body, and no front darts. Pair with formal trousers for a nice alternative to the traditional tuxedo. Just like all of our tailored clothing, it's designed to take you to black-tie events in Mississippi, Manhattan, and Milan (and beyond) without looking or feeling out of place.
This jacket comes unfinished, which means it needs to be tailored before you wear it! Specifically, the sleeves are unhemmed, without cut buttonholes, at the time of purchase. Your local tailor can hem them to your perfect length and attach the buttons (we include eight — four for each sleeve — in the pocket of the jacket.) If you’re near one of our stores, our in-house tailors can also take care of this.
