These jeans are made of 13oz selvedge denim from Kurabo, the Japanese mill that produced the very first batch of domestically made selvedge back in the 70s. Safe to say they know what they’re doing over there. This kind of denim is woven on a more traditional shuttle loom to create a self-edged cloth (hence the name) and the slower weaving process creates a fabric with a more personal, relaxed hand to it. Which is exactly what it does on the body. If you're new to selvedge, don't be put off by the initial stiffness — it'll soften up and fade over time, leaving you with a pair of jeans that molds organically to your wear patterns. And especially if you can hold off on washing them for awhile, they'll wear in and become as unique to you as your fingerprints. Just like all of our 5-pockets, the shape riffs on two other longtime favorites: think Levi's 501®s with more taper, APC New Standards with more room in the rise, and slimmer than both from the knee down. They're made with blue oxford pocketing, a button fly, brass rivets, chain-stitched hems, and clean, unbranded back pockets.
