There's hardly anything we can say about Persol that's not in their name — “for sun” in Italian — but it's one of the oldest and most iconic eyewear companies on the planet. You've seen their sunglasses on Steve McQueen, Marcello Mastroianni, Greta Garbo, and Reinhold Messner. (And actually, this very shape, the 649, was worn by Mastroianni in Divorce Italian Style, though it was originally designed for local tram-drivers.) Every pair is still made by hand at the original 1917 factory in Turin. They're cool.
