These sandals, aside from being very pretty to look at, have a rich history dating back to ancient Mexico. Although they've had many iterations since (you might have even had a pair — they made their way stateside in a big way in the 60s and 70s), they're defined by that laced flat weave of leather across the top. We love how it makes them closed-toe and open-toe all at once — nice for cobblestone or dusty city streets, or anywhere you want a little more coverage. This version is made just for us at a small factory in Northern Italy, in supple calfskin suede.
