To use — gather your hair like you're putting it in a ponytail, then twirl it into a bun against the back of your head, twisting the hair tightly. Stick the pin sideways through the bun (east-west) and then do a sharp U-turn to bring it back underneath, securing the bun to your head. Voilà.
