For the past few years, we've released something special for Giving Tuesday to kick off the holiday season. For 2023, it's a wrapped-up-and-ready-to-go version of our Mashburn candle. Each of our four scents has been gift-wrapped in its own custom paper that we created using vintage, 19th-century marbled endsheets… tied with waxed cotton cord… and topped with a matching box of matches. Ready for your recipient to unwrap and light right away. The No. 138 scent is paired with a lovely blue and green Turkish marble pattern and has notes of lavender, fig, artemisia, mint, thyme, and patchouli. Perfumed in Grasse and poured by hand in Montreal, each candle is made of a sustainable soy/coconut wax blend and housed in Mashburn-green glass with a deckle edge, foil-stamped label. 138 is named for Sid’s and Ann’s first shared loft in New York and feels accordingly neutral — both masculine and feminine — with a really wonderful fig-based scent. We especially love the mint in it. And in celebration of Giving Tuesday 2023, a portion of sales is split between Hope Heals, a week-long camp experience and year-round community that offers resources, rest, and relationships to families affected by disabilities, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries (including the Mashburns) + Atlanta Mission, the city’s largest and longest-running provider of services to those experiencing homelessness, located just down the street from our headquarters. Two causes close to our hearts.

PRO TIPS FOR BURNING CANDLES

The first time you light a candle, let it burn for 2-3 hours, or until the whole surface is liquid. Wax has muscle memory, and this trains it to burn evenly and last as long as possible. You'll also want to get in the habit of trimming the wick to 1/4" before lighting to prevent tunneling and excessive smoking.
