The name says it all here... this is a self-contained, fire-starting kit housed in a solid brass canister. It's made in Brooklyn and engraved with “FIRE – LIGHT & WARMTH – STRIKE ON BOTTOM” (just in case you need a reminder of what fire does or how to use the kit) and it's got an easy-to-grip, precision-knurled cap. Inside are strike-anywhere matches that can be used on the bottom of the canister, which has a roughened surface designed for this very thing. Note that the brass is unlacquered so this will develop a killer patina the more you use it, although if you prefer a shinier look, it polishes up beautifully.
